TEK5930 – Renewable Energy Systems, Master thesis

Course content

A short master's thesis corresponds to a half year of full-time study and constitutes one fourth of the master's degree.

Regulations concerning the master’s thesis are specified in?rules on courses, course groups and degrees in the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences.

Learning outcome

After completing the course, you will be able to

  • contribute knowledge to your field of specialisation and its applications
  • make reflected choices between key methods and tools from research and practice
  • conduct a supervised research or development project within a strict, predefined time period that conforms with research ethics standards
  • contribute to the development of the field and analyse its professional, ethical and societal possibilities and limitations
  • communicate academic work to specialists, orally and in writing
  • apply your knowledge and skills to new areas to conduct advanced work tasks and?projects

Admission to the course

The master’s thesis is a compulsory?part of the master’s programme in Renewable Energy Systems (master's two years) and is based on admission to that programme.

Teaching

Your work on the master’s thesis will involve an independent, time-limited research or development project under supervision.

The work for the thesis of 30 credits shall be completed in 17 calendar weeks of continuous full-time study in the autumn semester and 18 calendar weeks of continuous full-time study in the spring semester, including Easter holidays and public holidays.

The examination consists of a master's thesis worth 30 credits to be handed in by a deadline. This will be followed by an oral presentation of the master’s thesis and an examination.

Language of examination

You may write your examination paper in Norwegian, Swedish, Danish or English.

Grading scale

Grades are awarded on a scale from A to F, where A is the best grade and F?is a fail. Read more about?the grading system.

Resit an examination

Students who can document a valid reason for absence from the regular examination are?offered a postponed examination at the beginning of the next semester.

Re-scheduled examinations are not offered to students who withdraw during, or did not pass, the original examination.
