The lectures are now over, but those who want can meet in the lecture room Monday December 6. 12.15, and I will be present answering question etc (sort of orakel session). You can, of course, also ask me questions (at any other time) in my office.

A remark on the final exam: the problem set will be in English only, but you are free to answer in Norwegian.

The mandatory assignments is now corrected, and you can check wether your paper has been approved if you follow the link "Information regarding the mandatory assignments" on the left and then log in following the link below "List of approved assignments".

You will find the corrected papers stored in book shelves (next to the box where your paper where dropped) on the 7. floor in the math building.

If you have to turn in an improved version the deadline for this is Friday November 5. 14.30.

Report from the lectures

September 27. and 28.

On Monday I defined the hyperbolic metric in H and proved that (apart from being a metric) it is satisfies the properties given in (d4) and (d5) (p. 26). Then I defined the homeomorphism G from D to D. On Tuesday I explained what we mean by a M?bius transformations in D and gave general formulas for these. Then I defined the hyperbolic metric in D and started to calculate formulas for this metric. I will proceed with this next week, and then proceed with chapter 8. (I will talk about the stuff in chapter 6, when I deduce the area formula for an hyperbolic triangle). I assigned the problems 2.9, 5.1 and 7.8 for next week.

Welcome to MAT4510! The first lecture will be August 23. I will basically follow the set of notes, written by Bj?rn Jahren, which you can download from the link 'Syllabus...' to the left. Bj?rn Jahren is about doing some minor revisions of these notes. He has finished the revisions of note 1 (Hilberts?s axiom system ..) and he will soon finish the revisions of the second note (about hyperbolic geometry).
