Lectures in STK 4080 autumn 2023

Below are given plans for the coming lectures and an overview of the material that has been covered in the course so far. Section numbers, etc refer to the book by Aalen, Borgan, and Gjessing. Changes to the plan are likely.

The lectures so far

Week 34: Introduction to the course, Chapter 1 except Sections 1.3, 1.4.3 and 1.5 (1.4.3 and 1.5 will be covered later). Slides for Lecture 1. We also looked at a little R-script.

Week 36: Counting processes, martingales and other stochastic processes Sections 2.1, 2.2 (2.2.1-2.2.6) and 3.1 (3.1.1, 3.1.2, 3.1.5). Application to survival data and the Nelson-Aalen estimator. Lecture for week 36.

Week 37: More on counting processes and martingales. Section 2.3.1, 2.3.2, 3.1.6, 3.2. Application to Nelson-Aalen and Kaplan-Meier estimator.                                 Slides for lecture week 37.

Week 38: Remaining issues for Nelson-Aalen and Kaplan-Meier (smoothing, percentiles, excess mortality, ties 3.1-3.2). Intro Nonparametric tests.                   Slides for week 38.

Week 39: Tuesday: Nonparametric tests.  Section 3.3 (except 3.3.4 and 3.3.5). Thursday: Multistate models, Section 3.4.  Slides for lectures.

Week 40: Relative risk regression. The introductions to Chapter 4 and Section 4.1. Sections 4.1.1 (except examples 4.2 and 4.3), 4.1.2. Slides for the lecture.

Week 41: More on relative risk regression. Sections 4.1.3 (only to line 7 on page 144), 4.1.4, and 4.1.5 (only to the middle of page 151). Additional material on model check for Cox regression. Slides for the lecture, we got as far as to Schoenfeld residuals (slide 40).

Week 42: Remaining slides on topics related to Cox-regression on Tuesday. Slides under lecture for Week 41.

Additive (Aalen) regression on Thursday:  Slides.

Week 43: Parametric models. Introduction to the chapter, parametric regression models including Poisson regression. Sections 5.1 and 5.2. Slides for the lecture where we got as far as to martingale stuff.

Week 44: Remaining part on parametric likelihoods within a counting process-martingale framework. Frailty models univariate and clustered data. Introduction to Chapter 6 and Sections 6.1, 6.2.1, and 6.2.2. Introduction to Chapter 7, 7.1 and Section 7.2.2. Slides for lecture so far. The slides will be expanded Tuesday.
