INTHE4002 – Theoretical Foundations, part 2
Course content
This course will focus on defined areas related to health work. The emphasis is now more on identifying problems, developing strategies and implement programs.
The area of the course is:
- Women’s Health, Reproductive Health
- Child Health
- HIV/AIDS
Learning outcome
This course aims to give the student knowledge in three areas: In women’s Health and Reproductive Health the aim is to give an introduction to biological and social factors that contribute to gender differences in health, to explain the underlying principles of a shift from population control to reproductive health in international policy, and to create an understanding of central concepts and issues in the field. In children’s Health the aim is to give an introduction to topics that are of special relevance to the health of children. The area will provide knowledge relevant for all health workers, whether or not they are primarily concerned with children. In HIV/AIDS The aim is to let the student become familiar with central topics related to HIV/AIDS. The course will provide knowledge about issues related to prevention of HIV/AIDS among various populations, treatment and care, and the consequences of the HIV/AIDS epidemic for the health system.

Access to teaching
A student who has completed compulsory instruction and coursework and has had these approved, is not entitled to repeat that instruction and coursework. A student who has been admitted to a course, but who has not completed compulsory instruction and coursework or had these approved, is entitled to repeat that instruction and coursework, depending on available capacity.

Language of examination
You may submit your response in Norwegian, Swedish, Danish or English. If you would prefer to have the exam text in English, you may apply to the course administrators.
