MF9560 – Logistic regression for nominal and ordinal responses

Course content
The course will give a short repetition of the logistic regression model. Further, we will look into the analysis of matched case-control studies and logistic models for nominal and ordinal outcomes with more than two categories.
Learning outcome
The participants will learn how to use SPSS to analyze data where the outcome variable is categorical with more than two categories. Logistic regression for the analysis of case-control studies will also be examined. Analysis of clinical and epidemiological data will be emphasized.
Admission
Ph.D. candidates and students at the Medical Student Research Programme will get first priority to the course. The maximum number of participant is 30.
Prerequisites
Formal prerequisite knowledge
It is required that the participants have been through MF9130E - Introductory course in statistics / MF9130 - Innf?ring i statistikk or equivalent.
Recommended previous knowledge
It is highly recommended that the participants have a course in logistic regression.
Teaching
The course is given over four full days, as a mix of lectures and exercises in the computer room.
NB! You have to participate in at least 80 % of the teaching to be allowed to take the exam. Attendance at lectures will be registered.
Examination
A take-home exam - analysis of a given dataset - will be given at the end of the course. Grading: pass/fail.
