There is a compulsory assignment in the course, which accounts for 40 % of the grade. Detailed information will be provided when the course starts, here are some basic information:

  • The assignment is intended as a group assignment where you can form groups of up to 3 persons. It is also possible to work alone. Larger groups are supposed to provide larger projects
  • You will hand in project proposals in early October
  • The final product should be a short paper with R coded included as an appendix
  • The assignment should draw on material from the course, but otherwise you are free to choose the topic

Here is a bit of information for those of you who want to prepare for the course before the lectures start in August:

  • A somewhat preliminary lecture plan is now online
  • Although we start from scratch, I assume that you have some knowledge about R, more or less at the level of ECON2130
  • A good place to start reading is the e-book by Grolemund and Wickham. This is our main book on R.
