Course content

The course is the third part of the Master of Arts (M.A.) programme "Society, Science and Technology in Europe". The course consists of the supervision and guiding of the M.A. ESST thesis.

Admission

Students who are admitted to study programmes at UiO must each semester register which courses and exams they wish to sign up for in Studentweb.

Prerequisites

Formal prerequisite knowledge

Students must have been accepted to the M.A. ESST programme and have passed semester 1 (MAESST1

Teaching

Supervision appointed by contract between supervisor and student according two supervision guidelines. These guidelines establish the essential elements of the student/supervisor relationship during research and writing of the student's Masters Thesis and the minimum requirements that a student will be expected to fulfill during this period.

Examination

The master's examination takes place at the end of the autumn semester and consists of an assessment of the thesis. Each candidate is assessed by at least two examiners from two different universities. Normally one examiner is affiliated to the 1st semester university; a second examiner is affiliated to the 2nd semester university.
