Why?
The unit may want to find out about specific issues – such as what is important to the employees prior to a relocation process. There are also opportunities for questionnaire surveys on ergonomics, occupational health and occupational hygiene.
What is included in a small questionnaire survey?
- The Occupational Health Service Unit provides advice on the design, implementation and follow-up of the survey.
- The questionnaire survey should not contain too many questions, and it should focus on a specific topic. Every questionnaire survey is a snapshot. To be anything more than that, the survey must be followed up by a discussion and contributions from the employees at the unit.
- When the results are available, it is important to address both the good and bad results. The key to changing unfortunate working environment conditions often lies in what works well.
Preparations at the unit
The manager and safety delegate must discuss whether, when and how a survey shall be conducted at the unit. A working group should be set up, with for example, a manager, personnel consultant and safety delegate. The working group will prepare the plan for the start-up, implementation, reporting and follow-up. The Occupational Health Service Unit will happily participate in the working group.
Before starting to work on a survey, there are certain choices that must be made. Should it be:
- An anonymous survey or not
- A one-off or recurring survey
- Focus on the past or future
- Direct and/or indirect participation
Ordering
The unit manager is the orderer. It is recommended to include this with the unit’s action plan for use of the Occupational Health Service Unit .
