Plagiarism, Research Ethics and Copyrights

The Science Studies Colloquium Series (Forum for vitenskapsteori) invites you to an international seminar about Plagiarism, Research Ethics and Copyrights. The seminar is open for everyone.

There has been some well known cases of plagiarism in Europe and North America during the last years. The best known has probably been the Guttenberg case in Germany in 2011.

The cases have opened up for several principled discussions, such as about the actual and desirable relationships between different types of norms for the regulation of research, especially research ethical norms and legal norms. Among the legal norms those about copyright have been important in documentation and evaluation of accusations of plagiarism. The discussions have also opened up for a principled discussion about the adequate definition of plagiarism.

The seminar will be organized as one of our ordinary seminars, with four lectures. Each presenter har 30-40 minutes for the presentation, and then 20-30 minutes for discussion afterwards (i.e. ca 60 minutes for each presentation). The seminar is open for everyone.
