Using computers in science – new scientific practice and bildung?
Computers and the use of computing has grown to become a third leg in the natural sciences — along side theory and experiments — and is today a fundamental part of how science is practiced and applied. Bu how does this change influence the scientific methods and approaches? We can generate new knowledge about nature merely by doing simulations on a computer, and hypotheses can be teste without any experiments. What challenges does this imply and how can we trust the answers?
