Philippe Huneman is a Professor at the IHPST (Institut d'Histoire et de Philosophie des Sciences et des Techniques), Université Paris 1. He focuses on the philosophy of evolutionary biology and ecology. His
main interests are: the variety of evolutionary explanations; the relations between variation, selection, and drift; the issue of individuality in biology related to the “evolutionary transitions” program and the formal definitions of emergence; the philosophy of ecology and especially neutral theories in community ecology. Last books published: Why? The philosophy behind the question (Stanford University Press) and Death. Perspectives from the Philosophy of Biology (Palgrave-McMillam).

Rose Trappes is a postdoctoral research fellow at Egenis, the Centre for the Study of Life Sciences at Exeter University, UK. Rose works in philosophy of biology and feminist philosophy. Her research currently focuses on concepts and research practices in ecology and related disciplines, exploring topics such as individuality, ecological niches, ecological mechanisms, animal tracking technology, data synthesis, and citizen science. Together with Sabina Leonelli, Rose is also working on conceptualisations of research environments.
Dr Bonnie Evans is a Senior Research Fellow at Queen Mary University of London, and author of The Metamorphosis of Autism (Manchester University Press). She has a PhD from the Department of History and Philosophy of Science, Cambridge University, and has held a research fellowship at King’s College, London's Centre for Medical Humanities. She has lectured in the international history of child sciences, psychology and eugenics. In addition to her academic work, she writes for popular publications such as Aeon Magazine, and has appeared on BBC television.
Eric Turkheimer is a psychologist and behavioral geneticist, known for his research on the complex interplay between genetics and environmental factors in human behavior. His work has challenged the traditional nature vs. nurture dichotomy, demonstrating instead that genetic and environmental factors interact in complex and dynamic ways to shape human development and behavior. His influential "Three Laws of Behavior Genetics" have become a cornerstone of the field, guiding researchers and shaping public understanding of the interplay between genes and environment. He is currently the Hugh Scott Hamilton Professor of Psychology at the University of Virginia.
Dr Suki Finn is a Lecturer in Philosophy at Royal Holloway University of London and a visiting fellow with the CPS at the University of Oslo. Previously, she was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Southampton and has held other visiting fellowships at the University of Vienna (2023), Australian National University (2019), New York University (2018), and City University of New York Graduate Center (2014). Her areas of research span the philosophy of logic, metaphysics, philosophy of science, feminism, and epistemology. She has published a number of articles on these topics in Synthese, Bioethics, Journal of Medicine and Philosophy, European Journal of the Philosophy of Science, Australasian Journal of Logic, Philosophia, and more. She is the author of What’s in a Doughnut Hole? And other philosophical food for thought (Icon, 2024) and editor of Women of Ideas (Oxford University Press, 2021). Dr Finn. is a University and College Union representative, and is on the Executive Committee for the Society for Women in Philosophy UK and the Council for the Royal Institute of Philosophy. Geoffrey Galt Harpham is the author of thirteen books and over one hundred articles and essays in the fields of literary studies, philosophy, linguistics, and intellectual history. His recent books are Scholarship and Freedom (Harvard Univ. Press) and Citizenship on Catfish Row: Race and Nation in American Popular Entertainment (Univ. of South Carolina Press). His Theories of Race 1684-1900, an anthology of scientific and philosophical discussions of the race concept, will be online in early summer 2023. He has taught at Tulane University, the University of Pennsylvania, and Duke University, and from 2002-15, he was director of the National Humanities Center.
Jon R?yne Kyllingstad (f.1966) er historiker og har jobbet med vitenskapshistorie og akademiske institusjoners historie i perioden ca. 1870-2000. Han har i mange ?r v?rt opptatt av ideer om rase, etnisitet, kultur og nasjon innen fag som antropologi, genetikk, arkeologi, historie. Siden 2017 har han arbeidet ved Kulturhistorisk museums avdeling Museum for universitets- og vitenskapshistorie, og har tidligere v?rt f?rstekonservator ved Norsk Teknisk Museum der han sammen med Ageliki Lefkaditou sto bak utstillingen FOLK – fra rasetyper til DNA-sekvenser.
Einar Duenger B?hn (b. 1977) is Professor of philosophy at the University of Agder. Main research areas: metaphysics, the philosophy of technology, aesthetics, the philosophy of religion, and ethics. B?hn has published many international articles and several books, e.g. “God and Abstract objects” (Cambridge University Press, 2019) and “Teknologiens Filosofi” (Cappelen Damm, 2022). Bohn is also an active voice on behalf of philosophy outside of academia, with many radio appearances and philosophy podcasts on his conscience. Other than that, he seems to experience some meaning from driving his motorcycle, drawing with charcoal, and hanging out with his cat and his kids.
Bj?rn Hofmann (UiO, NTNU Gj?vik) er professor i medisinsk filosofi og etikk ved Senter for medisinsk etikk ved Det medisinske fakultet ved Universitetet i Oslo og ved Institutt for helsevitenskap ved NTNU Gj?vik. Han er utdannet innen teknologifag, idéhistorie, filosofi og etikk. Hofmann forsker og underviser innenfor medisinsk filosofi, helsefaglig etikk, vitenskapsteori, helsetjenesteforskning og teknologivurdering. Han er s?rlig opptatt av h?ndtering av teknologi generelt og av etiske aspekter ved helseteknologi spesielt. Hofmann har blant annet skrevet boken Hva er sykdom? i tillegg til en lang rekke vitenskapelige artikler og han deltar aktivt i samfunnsdebatten om ulike sider av helsetjenesten.
Ole Jacob Madsen (f. 1978) er utdannet psykolog og filosof og jobber som professor i kultur- og samfunnspsykologi ved Psykologisk institutt, Universitetet i Oslo. Hans forskning har s?rlig omhandlet hvordan psykologien utgj?r et meningsrammeverk for det moderne menneskets liv. Han har tidligere utgitt b?kene Den terapeutiske kultur (2010/2017), "Det er innover vi m? g?" (2014), Generasjon prestasjon (2018), Livsmestring p? timeplanen (2020) og Skolevegringsmysteriet (sammen med Gaute Brochmann) (2022).
Finnur Dellsén is a Professor II at Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences, Lillehammer, in addition to being full-time Professor at the University of Iceland, Reykjavík. Most of his research interests are in philosophy of science and epistemology (including formal and social epistemology), with various related interests in philosophy of logic, metaethics, and the history of philosophy. His most recent work is on scientific and philosophical progress, the social epistemology of science, and how to make explanation-based inferences.
Desmond McNeill, political economist, is Professor emeritus and the former director of Senter for Utvikling og Milj? (SUM) at UiO. His main academic interests are governance, sustainable development, research and policy, and interdisciplinarity.
?ystein Linnebo is a Professor of Philosophy at the University of Oslo. His main research interests are in the philosophies of logic and mathematics, metaphysics and the philosophy of science. He is particularly interested in questions concerning ontology, individuation, essence, reference (especially to abstract objects), necessity and of necessary truths. He has recently published two books, Philosophy of Mathematics (Princeton University Press, 2017) and Thin Objects: An Abstractionist Account (Oxford University Press, 2018).
Lara Keuck is a historian and philosopher of medicine. She leads the Max Planck Research Group “Practices of Validation in the Biomedical Sciences” at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science in Berlin.
Her research examines the making and changing of knowledge about disease in modern medicine, and has focused on medical classification systems, animal models of human disease, vagueness in psychiatry, and the question of validity. She is particularly interested in so-called borderline cases that in some way or the other fall in-between health and disease and challenge or alter their demarcations.
Julia Bursten is an associate professor in the department of Philosophy at The University of Kentucky, where she teaches a variety of courses about the relationships between science and society, as well as philosophy of science, logic, and health care ethics.
Her research has centered around building the philosophy of nanoscience, and she is now working on a project on agricultural science, which will complement her work on nanoscience and aims at generating a broader picture of knowledge construction in synthetic and applied sciences.
Julie Zahle is an associate professor at the Department of Philosophy, University of Bergen. Her main area of research is the philosophy of the social sciences. In particular, she works on values and objectivity in the social sciences, the individualism/holism debate, qualitative methods, and social theories of practice.
Eva Krick is a social scientist with an orientation towards political sociology, institutional analysis and democratic theory who is currently affiliated with the Political Science Department at Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz. She received her PhD from the University of Darmstadt, worked at Humboldt University Berlin and stayed as guest researcher at the Universities of Oslo, Aarhus, Edinburgh, and the National University of Singapore. Her research focuses inter alia on the role of knowledge and expertise in modern societies, citizen and stakeholder participation, the environment-society nexus and group decision-making.
Sebastian Watzl is an associate professor at the Department of Philosophy, Classics, History of Art, and Ideas at the University of Oslo. Among other things, he works in philosophy of mind, philosophy of science, epistemology, and ethics. He has published the book Structuring Mind. The Nature of Attention and how it shapes Consciousness (OUP, 2017), and is co-author of the ExPhil book “Knowing, Being, Doing” (Gyldendal, 2021). He was head of the Center for Philosophy and the Sciences (CPS), and currently is leader of the ERC-funded project GOODATTENTION. Attention norms and their role in practical reason, epistemology, and ethics and project manager for the Norwegian Research Council funded project Salient Solutions. Responding ethically to the attention crisis.

Sophia Efstathiou is a Researcher (Forsker) at the Programme for Applied Ethics, Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies, Norwegian University of Science and Technology. She is currently leading the international KLIMAFORSK project MEATigation: Towards sustainable meat use in Norwegian food practices for climate mitigation (2020-24), and the Norwegian participation in the H2020 project ISEED: Inclusive Science and European Democracies (2021-24).
Emma Vikstr?m has a PhD in education and is currently working as a researcher and lecturer in the teacher training programme at ?rebro University, Sweden. Her research interests lie in the fields of the history of education and history of ideas and focus on historical change regarding educational goals and means. She will be presenting some parts of her recently published thesis on eugenics and education in Ellen Key’s work.
