Career opportunities

As a graduate of the microelectronics and sensor technology programme option you will get an academic background opening many different career paths.

Through the theoretical curriculum and work on the master's thesis you will gain knowledge and skills important to employers in technological fields. These skills include designing electronic circuits and measuring instruments, developing new sensors, developing software, electronic solutions or use of simulation and modelling tools. This will make you highly sought after for any business interested in developing future technology.

After graduating from the microelectronics and sensor technology programme many work places and businesses will be interested in your expertise. Former graduates have been offered jobs in hardware development and consultancy, and some work in companies like Texas Instruments, Silicon Labs, SINTEF, Nordic Semiconductor, OmniVision, Ideas, CageEye, Cisco, Eidel, Kongsberg Gruppen, Oslo University Hospital and so on. Some graduates have also started their own companies.

You may also pursue a Doctoral degree (PhD) in science if you meet the criteria. If you wish to teach in high schools, you can combine your studies with Practical Pedagogical Educaton (in Norwegian) in order to get qualified to teach in Norwegian schools.
