Welcome to the Department of Geosciences! We're thrilled to have you join us. Kick off your master’s journey by attending our information meeting, where you'll get all the essentials about your Geosciences or CS: Geoscience studies and what to expect as the academic year begins.

We have arranged dedicated meetings for each of our program options within the Department of Geosciences. This is a crucial opportunity to meet the contact person specific to your program. You'll receive vital information regarding potential thesis topics and possible supervisors. 15th August:

  • Deadline for registering for courses in Studentweb to apply within the main admission. Important! You don't need to do anything until you have attended the first mandatory lecture.

1st September: 

Start of studies events for all UiO students

The University of Oslo greets all new students with a traditional ceremony at the University Square

The Geoscience Student Council

The Geosciences Student Council (GFU), comprised of student representatives, actively advocates for the academic and social interests of GEO students. It serves as a crucial conduit for dialogue and collaboration between the student body and the Department of Geosciences.

G?A NORVEGICA

One of UiO's by far oldest associations for students can be found at the Department of Geosciences. G?A Norvegica was founded as early as 1935, and since then has brought the students together both academically and socially.
