Learning outcomes

With a master from the programme option biological and medical physics you will have acquired an understanding of how the properties of complex biological systems are governed by the fundamental laws of physics.

You will learn how different external physical factors such as ionizing radiation, electrical and magnetic fields and thermal effects influence biological systems. You will also gain insight into how modern research makes use of this fundamental understanding in order to generate new knowledge.

You will acquire special competence within one or more academic fields. This may be biomaterials, image-based medical diagnostics, radiation physics, modern radiation technology, radiobiology, radiation therapy for cancer, radioimmunotherapy, bio technology, athlete physiology, mechanobiology and brain research.

Working on your master thesis you will, in cooperation with the academic staff, learn to develop quantitative measurement methods, plan, execute and analyse relevant experiments and model central physical, biochemical or biological processes and systems within the subject area. You will train in critical thinking, ethics and accountability, problem-solving, project management and in addition be able to express yourself in a precise manner, both in writing and orally.
