Career opportunities

After graduating within space physics and technology you will be in a unique position on the labour market. Modern society is increasingly more dependent on space based technology. Thus a person able to analyze the effects of space weather on technology and develop more robust systems will be in constant demand. As space related industry is growing both in Norway and internationally there are job openings all over the world.

As a physicist you will have thorough training in applications of analytical methods, logic, data analysis and programming. You will possess skills that are sought-after in the industry, especially those working with big data. This could be in banking, insurance, logistics, sales and advertising, or other fields.

Several of our former students are working in space related industries. Some of them have worked on developing satellites for companies like And?ya Space Center, Svalsat and EIDEL. Others have become researchers or work in the public sector, in the Norwegian Mapping Authority, Statkraft or the Norwegian Space Centre. Research have also pursued further academic endeavours with PhD-studies and positions within educational research, the oil industry and environmental organizations.

A one-year course in didactics allows you to work as a teacher in Norwegian schools.
