This programme combines the Nordic approach to inclusive education with global knowledge from different cultural contexts. The programme will provide you with significant knowledge in the various fields of special needs education, with the added benefit of a unique combination of theoretical and empirical knowledge developed in the research environment at the Department of special needs education. In addition, students have the opportunity to participate in the scientific research carried out at the Department of Special Needs Education (ISP).

The teaching is a combination of lectures, workshops and seminars with a problem-based learning approach. It is a supportive learning environment with relatively small classes where the students and academic staff work closely together.

The RSNE programme is strongly grounded in the current research areas carried out at ISP and some parts of the teaching are integrated with the Norwegian Master’s programme in Spesialpedagogikk.

Up to 60 credits of the total 120 credits required for the RSNE are in common with the Spesialpedagogikk programme. Credits can also be acquired by attending courses form other institutions in Norway and abroad, according to the current regulations at the Faculty of Education. Students will have the opportunity to have a period of international mobility.

  • a series of compulsory courses (80 credits)
