Mentor via NAV

This mentor arrangement applies to students who have education as grants through the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Adminstration (NAV).

If you have any special needs or questions regarding other available mentor arrangements, please contact your faculty.

Mentor via NAV

This mentor arrangement are intended for students who need assistance and help to finish their studies.

Mentors can assist with practical help or help with structuring the students' everyday study life. The mentoring collaboration must not exceed the academic requirements in the study, or the requirements for independent work.

The need for a mentor is assessed every semester.

This is how you proceed if you want a mentor via NAV:

1. Contact your local NAV office and check whether you are entitled to this mentor arrangement.

2. Contact your faculty and describe why you need a mentor, how many hours you need, and what tasks you would like the mentor to have.
When contacting the faculty, you must state the name of your supervisor from NAV.

3. UiO contacts your NAV supervisor and discusses the matter based on the information you have provided in the dialogue with the faculty.

4. UiO prepares a job advertisement. It is an advantage if you have suggestions for relevant candidates/fellow students for the mentor position.

5. UiO invites you and relevant candidates to an interview. Together we will find a mentor who suits you.

6. UiO creates a digital agreement on NAV.no, that NAV, student and mentor must sign. The mentoring collaboration can only start when all parties have signed this agreement.
