Textbook
As textbook (in Norwegian) we use the published lecture notes:
FYS 202, Kjell V?yenli: Forelesninger i Klassisk teoretisk Fysikk I, Unipubkompendier (v?ren 2003). (In parts of the lectures we do not follow V?yenli’s notation.)
Updated lecture notes (in English) will be available during the course.
Supplementary texts
As supplementary textbooks (in English) the following ones are recommended:
Goldstein, Poole and Safco: Classical Mechanics, 3. edition, Addison Wesley (2002).
David J. Griffiths: Introduction to Electrodynamics, 3. edition, Pearson Benjamin Cummings (2008).
Note that the lectures do not follow closely the progression in these books, which include also subjects that are not included in the lectures.
The most relevant parts of Goldstein, Poole og Safco are: chpt. 1, 2, 7 (parts of the chapter) og 8 (parts of the chapter).
