IN2030 – Project in Programming
Course description
Course content
The core of the subject is a major programming task to be solved in small groups.
Learning outcome
After finishing the course you will be able to:
- write larger programs divided into sensible modules.
- make programs more transparent by using object orientation.
- use advanced Java mechanisms.
- explain how a compiler works
- read, understand and customize program code written by others
- find and correct errors in both your own and in others programs

Special admission requirements
In addition to fulfilling the Higher Education Entrance Qualification, applicants have to meet the following special admission requirements:
- Mathematics R1 or Mathematics (S1+S2)
The special admission requirements may also be covered by equivalent studies from Norwegian upper secondary school or by other equivalent studies. Read more about special admission requirements (in Norwegian).
Formal prerequisite knowledge
The course presuppose IN1010 – Object-oriented Programming/INF1010 - Object oriented programming (continued).

- 10 credits overlap with INF2100 – Programming project (continued).
- 10 credits overlap with IN2031 – Project in Programming.
- 6 credits overlap with INF111 – Programmeringslaboratorium (discontinued).
- 6 credits overlap with INF101.
- 6 credits overlap with IN102.
Teaching
2 hours of lectures and 2 hours of exercises each week. Several mandatory problems must be completed during the course. Rules for mandatory assignments.
Examination
Submission of project based on the mandatory assignments. The students may be selected for oral examination based on the project. Mandatory assignments, project and the potential oral exam must all be passed.
It will also be counted as one of?your three?attempts to sit the exam for this course, if you sit the exam for one of the following courses:?INF2100 – Programming project (continued)
Language of examination
You may write your examination paper in Norwegian, Swedish, Danish or English.
Grading scale
Grades are awarded on a pass/fail scale. Read more about the grading system.
Resit an examination
Students who can document a valid reason for absence from the regular examination are offered a postponed examination at the beginning of the next semester.
Re-scheduled examinations are not offered to students who withdraw during, or did not pass the original examination.
