The course will provide a comprehensive grounding in the subject of turbulence with emphasize on the theory of homogeneous turbulence. The course is equally useful for students working in the fields of computational and experimental fluid dynamics.

Learning outcome

After completion of the course you will have the following competence:

  • Ability to apply the generalized representation of isotropic tensors
  • Insight into the kinematics of homogeneous turbulence
  • Insight into rapid distortion theory
  • Insight into advanced modeling concepts

Admission

PhD candidates from the University of Oslo should apply for classes and register for examinations through Studentweb.

If a course has limited intake capacity, priority will be given to PhD candidates who follow an individual education plan where this particular course is included. Some national researchers’ schools may have specific rules for ranking applicants for courses with limited intake capacity.
