Here is the exam text and here is a solution proposal. Good job in the course everyone and I hope you will have a merry and relaxing Christmas break.

We had the final exam on Friday last week, which also concluded the course. I will start going through your solutions this week and a solution proposal to the exam will be uploaded to the semester page soon. In the mean time, if you have any feedback on the course (material, lectures, exercises, exam, etc), please send it by email to the student representative, or to me directly. All feedback is greatly appreciated, and it would great to hear from both students that attended the course physically and students that followed it digitally.

Thank you, Johan

A digital half-hour "tr?sterunde" will be held in Zoom one hour after the start of the exam, that is, at 10:00-10:30. Then, If you have any questions regarding the exam questions (other than how to solve them), you can log in to the Zoom waiting room and I will let you in one by one. A link to the Zoom room will be provided shortly before the exam here, as a message on the semester page. Possible clarifications of ambiguities in the exam text will also be posted in the same message. I will also be available on email during the exam, if you prefer that over Zoom.

In the last exercise session, we looked an old exam. This can be a good way to practice for the upcoming exam. Links to the old exam and a solution proposal are found in "Schedule".

A solution proposal to the mandatory assignment can be found here. Let me know if you have any questions about the proposed solutions.

Students who do not have a proper place to sit and work during the home exam(s) will have the opportunity to reserve space at Blindern during the scheduled time for the exam(s). For exams at the Department of Mathematics there are two different alternatives.

Reserve space at the library (three days before the exam, at the earliest): https://www.ub.uio.no/bruk/rom/index.html

Apply for space in the class rooms in Niels Henrik Abels hus:  https://nettskjema.no/a/rom-mi-2020-hjemmeeksamen

The latter is only a possibility at the Department of Mathematics, and there are a limit number of seats available. The principle ?first come first served? will be followed. We remark that this is not a part of the usual offer for students with special needs at UiO, and students with need of special facilitation during the exam will have to apply as usual: ...

You may use your preferred tool to generate a single PDF. For instance, you may write in Word/LaTeX, write on a tablet, or use Office Lens to take pictures of hand written notes. Some alternatives are described in more detail on the following web page:

/english/studies/examinations/submissions/options-for-hand-drawings.html

Regardless of which way you choose to generate your submission, it is your responsibility to double check that the PDF is uploaded properly, and is readable after downloading it.

As a heads-up, the mandatory assignment will be made available next week on this page. Also, the final examination in the course will be in the form of a written exam. As support material for the exam, you will be allowed to bring an approved calculator and a list of selected definitions and theorems from Casella & Berger that I will put together in due course. NOTE: you will not be allowed to bring any handwritten notes to the exam, but you will be given a list of selected definitions and theorems.

I have uploaded the slides for today's lecture to the "Lecture slides" section (Chapter 5). From now on, I will try to upload the slides that I will use in the lecture before the lecture, and then update it with the version that contains the additional handwritten notes.

Guest students that have not enrolled in the course but show up at a lecture are for infection control reasons asked to register in the following "nettskjema": https://nettskjema.no/a/gjestforelesning

The content of the course will be similar to previous years, following the book Statistical Inference by Casella and Berger (Second edition, 2002).

There will be two hours of lectures and one hour of exercises per week, starting Aug 19 in VB Seminarrom 123 (see Schedule). Due to the corona situation, the lectures will be recorded and made available afterwards.
