It seems that the deadline for the project, Sunday 12pm, could be interpreted in several ways.

The intended deadline is today 23:59:59. If anyone who has already handed in the project wants to make amendments feel free to send me an updated version.

I have made one correction to the project. In Question 3b the expression for posterior distribution requires a normalizing constant. This should not pose trouble for the rest of Problem 3.

Please send completed project reports via email to osamuels@math.uio.no. Preferred format is pdf. It could be useful if you include commands (R-scripts or other programs) in your report, but preferably in appendices.

Here is the exam project slightly ahead of rescheduled announcement (Sorry for the dealy).

I put up Sunday November 27 12pm as a slight compensation.

There could be typos or obscure points, we can discuss these on the final lecture Monday 14, 1315-15.

Good luck - and have fun!

Unfortunately there will a delay before the project becomes available, but it will appear during the weekend.

I hope this does not create too many problems. Please let me know if it does.

We have now completed the ordinarty lectures in STK4050/9050, but upcoming Monday (14/11), 1315-1500 there will be a resume lecture.

The syllabus for STK4050 is now available

(It says preliminary, but this is only in case there are objections to the syllabus).

The exam will consist of a project and a written exam that each count 50% of the grading.

The project will be handed out on Friday November 11 and has deadline Friday November 25 (though I am open for extending this a couple of days).

Welcome to STK4050.

We will use a book by R.Y. Rubinstein & D.P. Kroese. Simulation and the Monte Carlo Method, 2nd Edition. John Wiley & Sons, 2007. Unfortunately the delivery to Akademika has been delayed, but we hope to it available when teaching starts.

Note also that there has been a change in the time of teaching. It will take place Mondays 1315-1600 (and is located in Seminar room B81 on the 8th floor of the math building).

Due to all this we will postpone teaching to week 35 and start Monday 29th of August.
