Learning outcome
The course aims to familiarize you with the most important concepts, issues and theories in and approaches to the field of Comparative and International Education.
Upon completion of the course you are expected to:

- understand and apply relevant theories and approaches to the study of key issues in Comparative and International Education
- understand and analyse the complex interrelationship between education and social change processes
Skills
- demonstrate capacity to identify pertinent research issues in the field of Comparative and International Education
- demonstrate capacity to analyse pertinent research issues in view of relevant theories and approaches
- demonstrate capacity to present and discuss in oral and written form issues in the field of Comparative and International Education
Competence
- document understanding and oral, written and analytical competences of relevance to the field of Comparative and International Education
Admission

Teaching
The teaching combines lectures, group work, student presentations and seminars.
Access to teaching
A student who has completed compulsory instruction and coursework and has had these approved, is not entitled to repeat that instruction and coursework. A student who has been admitted to a course, but who has not completed compulsory instruction and coursework or had these approved, is entitled to repeat that instruction and coursework, depending on available capacity.
Examination
You are required to write a paper of 10-12 pages as a home assignment. Requirements and deadlines will be announced at the beginning of the course.The paper will be graded pass/fail. If you fail, you will have a chance to rewrite the paper based on detailed feedback. The assignment will count as the entire portion of the final course grade.
There is a mandatory 80 per cent attendance requirements for all courses. If you do not fulfil the mandatory attendance requirement, you will need to complete an additional assignment prior to passing the course. You must pass the first introductory course in order to continue in the programme.
Use of sources and citation
You should familiarize yourself with the rules that apply to the use of sources and citations. If you violate the rules, you may be suspected of cheating/attempted cheating.
Language of examination
The examination text is given in English, and you submit your response in English.

Withdrawal from an examination
It is possible to take the exam up to 3 times. If you withdraw from the exam after the deadline or during the exam, this will be counted as an examination attempt.

Evaluation
The course is subject to continuous evaluation. At regular intervals we also ask students to participate in a more comprehensive evaluation.
