UV9345 – Inquiry dialogues, comprehension, and argumentation

Course content

Theory and research on classroom dialogue and on how communication in classrooms about texts can be transformed to support higher order thinking skills.

Organiser: NATEDs Track 1 in cooperation with the Department of Educational Research

Key Lecturer: Professor Alina Reznitskaya, Department of Educational Foundations, Montclair State University, USA.

In addition, some members of the TextDIM research group and PhD students enrolled in the National Graduate School in Educational Research (NATED) will give presentations followed by comments and discussion.

Admission

PhD-candidates enrolled in NATED will be given priority, but it is also possible for other PhD-candidates to apply for the course.

Candidates admitted to a PhD-program at UiO: Apply by using Studentweb.

Deadline for registration: August 26 2013.

Teaching

Duration: 12 hours over two days.

The course is taught September 12-13 2013.

Place: U31, Helga Engs hus.

Examination

1 credit point for course participation (80 % attendance required).
3 credit points for course participation and submitted paper.

Submission of paper (8 – 10 pages): The deadline for submission is December 1, 2013. The paper shall be submitted electronically to research administrator camilla.rake@isp.uio.no.
