Learning outcome
Description: A basic issue in philosophy of education -- perhaps the
most issue issue -- concerns the aims of education. What are the aims
of education? How are such aims identified and justified? Is there
exactly one or are there several, or none? More pressingly, does the
question even make sense? That is, is there something problematic
about thinking of education as having aims? If there are no aims, how
can educational activities, policies and practices and curricular
content be justified?
In this course we'll consider classic and contemporary treatments of
this fundamental cluster of questions.

Admission
PhD candidates at the Faculty of Educational Sciences will be given priority, but it is also possible for others to apply for the course. Applicants must have at least a Master's degree.
