For New Employees at IFIKK

Welcome to IFIKK! On this page you will find some hopefully useful information for new staff members.

Georg Morgenstierne's House

All of IFIKK is located in Georg Morgenstierne's House. On the 2nd floor you will find all our administrative staff, 3rd floor has most of our philosophers (and a coffee machine!), 4th floor houses art historians and classisists, and on the 5th floor you will find more philosophers and our history of ideas section.  Each floor has a common kitchen area with a refrigerator and microwave oven. There are also several conference rooms, which are available for booking directly through Outlook.

Mail Room, Printer Room, Office Supplies

Mail Room

The mail room is on the 2nd floor, next to the kitchen. Here you will find your pigeonhole for incoming mail and also the mailbox for outgoing mail. Mail is delivered and picked up three times a week, usually around 9am.

Printer Room

On the 2nd and 4th floor, you can find a room with a copying machine, which also has a printer and a scanner. To extract copies you must scan your employee card on the reader situated on the machine itself.

Office supplies and stationery

Office supplies and stationery can be found in room 309 on the 2nd floor. You can use your office key to get in.

Employee Card

Your employee card gives you access to Georg Morgenstiernes Hus and the floor doors when the building is closed (between 4.00 PM and 8.00 AM and during holidays). Please pick up your card at Kortsenteret situated in Kristian Ottesens Hus. When you pick up the card, please remember to bring a valid ID. You can also use your employee card for borrowing books at the University library. More information about the employee card can be found here. If your card is not activated automatically, please contact Anne Lise with your card number.

All new permanent academic staff as well as postdocs, researchers and completion grantees, are followed up through our academic mentoring programme

Teaching at IFIKK

Please have a look at this page where we have further links to information about teaching at IFIKK, such as the intricacies of the 'arbeidspliktregnskap' and our mentor arrangement. Sadly we don't have all the relevant information available in English yet, but more will be added as we manage to translate.

Learning Norwegian

IFIKK will cover the cost of certain Norwegian courses offered by the University of Oslo, for all foreign staff and also for spouses of permanent staff. This includes the course fee and course material. More information about the courses offered can be found here. By prior arrangement with the head of depatment, up to 50 hours per semester of these Norwegian courses may be added to your 'arbeidspliktregnskap'.
