Announcement of scholarships, Spring 2024

The Science Studies Colloquium Series is announcing scholarships for this semester, with a deadline on June, 1st. We appreciate help in spreading information to relevant persons.

The Science Studies Colloquium Series offers up to 4 scholarships of 25 000 NOK to master students who are writing their thesis within the field of science studies (the announced sums are before potential tax deduction, when applicable). Candidates should account for how the amount of the scholarship will be used. Scholarship recipients will have access to the forum's network and expertise. The Science Studies Colloquium Series is committed to dissipation of all kinds of "research on research" (as a broad definition of theory of science), including science policy, disciplinary and professional ethics, methodology, epistemology, history of science, philosophy of science, and sociology of science.

The deadline for applications is June 1st 2024.

 

Who can apply?

Master students enrolled at a master program at UiO, who will write their master thesis within the field of science studies.

MA scholarships are fixed to 25.000NOK. Individual scholarships are offered in accordance with UiO guidelines for payment of stipends/scholarships:

 

How to apply?

Send the application as a single PDF file by June 1st to the board's secretary, Na?d Mubalegh (naid.mubalegh@ibv.uio.no)

The application must contain:

·      Contact information (name, address, phone number, e-mail address) and the student’s academic institution (place of study)

·      Curriculum Vitae (CV)

·      Project description containing a title, introduction, and description of the research topic, theory, methods, estimated budget, and the time schedule for the project (maximum 5 pages, 2000 words). A description of how the scholarship will help the activity is desirable. The relevance of the project for science studies should be explained. Science studies is here understood as described on our webpage. It does not include discipline-specific methodology.

·      Transcript of academic records and a written recommendation from a supervisor.

 

Expectations

Recipients of scholarships commit themselves to writing and submitting a thesis within the field of science studies. Recipients may be asked to present their results to the board of the The Science Studies Colloquium Series.
