Nettskjema and TSD - limitations and responsibilities

Nettskjema is currently a free add-on for TSD users. Creating/designing the forms is intended as a self-service. If your project needs functionality that are not present in the applications web-interface you may send us a suggestion.

When it comes to the data files delivered to TSD-projects from Nettskjema, they are in the form of single submissions. Each submission is represented in 3 different file types:

  • Html: A simple format for easily reading single submissions ?by eye?.
  • CSV: Tab separated files for importing into applications like Excel or SPSS.
  • JSON: For projects that intend to import Nettskjema data into a project-database. However, most users will not need this format.

Important note: Any treatment and preparations of the data files for further analysis is the project owners responsibility. The standard services from TSD does not include import of Nettskjema responses to other applications (such as SPSS, Excel and databases). However, if such a service is needed one can apply for advanced user support (invoiced on an hourly basis) by sending a request to tsd-contact@usit.uio briefly describing your needs/intentions.

Privacy for the respondent (important for all using TSD and Nettskjema)

Almost all TSD Nettskjema usage is meant to be used for collecting sensitive information. This implies that the respondent is sometimes directly identifiable in the response data once decrypted, especially if using minID or BankID etc for autentication. With this your research project has the responsibility of washing the data so that there is no everyday use of names, IDs or other data that is not essential for the research. Thus every project should have one or a few persons who decrypt responses, wash the data by inserting a "responsecode" (l?penummer) and putting the codebook (koplingsn?kkel) matching pID and the "responsecode" in a safe place for limitied access (TSD recomends the pxx/home/ area of the data manager whodecrypts the data). If the codebook is final so that there most likely will be no more changes for a while TSD can lock it down further so that noone in the actual project can access the codebook. For questions, please contact tsd-drift@usit.uio.no

TSD does at the time not provide this service in an automated fashion, but we might have the time to assist you on a per hour fee basis.
