INF3280 – Development of IT-competence in Organisations

Course content

The course provides a background for managing the development of IT capacity in organisations, for user training and support, and for thesis research in the area.

Learning outcome

The course provides skills in teaching and supervision of computer use, and knowledge for planning and evaluating IT training and support. This builds on the following topics, which will be included in the course:

  • development of competence in organizations,
  • the constituents of user competence,
  • skills and understanding of IT and its use,
  • metacognitive skills,
  • learning of office tools and information systems
  • standards for user competence,
  • learnability of software,
  • material for supporting learning, also IT based

Special admission requirements

In addition to fulfilling the?Higher Education Entrance Qualification, applicants have to meet the following special admission requirements:

  • Mathematics R1 or Mathematics (S1+S2)

The special admission requirements may also be covered by equivalent studies from Norwegian upper secondary school or by other equivalent studies. Read more about?special admission requirements?(in Norwegian).

Teaching

2 hours of lectures plus 2 hours of lab per week. A number of mandatory assignments must be completed during the course.?Rules for mandatory assignments.

It is strongly recommended to attend the first lecture since it will be given important information

Examination

Written group report, 40% and a?written digital exam, 60% (4 hours). The mandatory assignments must be approved prior to the exam.

Grading scale

Grades are awarded on a scale from A to F, where A is the best grade and F?is a fail. Read more about?the grading system.

Resit an examination

Students who can document a valid reason for absence from the regular examination are?offered a postponed examination at the beginning of the next semester. Re-scheduled examinations are not offered to students who withdraw during, or did not pass the original examination.
