Programme structure

The Peace and Conflict Studies master is a full time program. Learning activities are organized according to the following plan for 120 credits in total.

It is possible to take the optional courses at other Departments/Faculties at UiO or other Universities/University colleges in Norway.

Supervision

The individual supervision of your master's thesis spans two semesters, and two semesters only. You and your supervisor will normally meet approximately ten times during the course of these two semesters.

Teaching and learning methods

The teaching methods at the programme are based on lectures, seminars and workshops.

Forms of examination and assessments

Examination forms at the programme are mainly written, invigilated exams and term paper assignments. The evaluation of the thesis is based on an assessment of the written thesis as well as an oral examination, during which the students will have the opportunity to defend the thesis.

Through the master's degree, you will be offered a complete programme to make it easier for you to discover your opportunities along the way and to make way for good choices later. Discover your future consists of four courses, one for each semester of the master's degree. The courses consist of a combination of four e-learning modules in Canvas, which you can take as you see fit, as well as some physical workshops where you get the opportunity to work on the various topics.

Honours certificate

Are you academically ambitious? It is possible to supplement your master`s degree with an honours certificate worth 20 credits. You take the certificate concurrently with the master`s programme.
