Teaching periods and programme blocks

Each of the four blocks includes an intensive two-week teaching period held at the premises of the university hosting the specific course. Outside these four two-week teaching periods, participants are expected to return home, allowing for full-time work while participating in the programme.

Completing a block includes writing a paper before each teaching period, writing a paper during the teaching period, the teaching period itself and also writing a paper after the teaching period. The first two papers will be presented class.

The teaching periods are intensive. The majority of the teaching days last from 9am to 4pm. Additionally, all courses feature one or more site visits.

More information on study load and assessments can be found under Timeline and Assessment. (NSELP.eu)

The full programme of the two-week teaching period of each block can be found at www.NSELP.eu.

Master’s thesis

The students are required to carry out independent scientific research. They will write their thesis under close supervision of one of the academics of the partner universities. The Master Thesis of 30 EC is a part of the curriculum for those students wishing to complete the master course.

Symposium

The programme will be concluded by a symposium where students present their final thesis. The presentation will not influence the grade of the thesis. The graduation ceremony will be combined with the symposium.

Method of assessment

The knowledge and skills gained by students are assessed by papers written before, during and after each teaching period, and also oral presentations. Visit www.NSELP.eu and see the timeline. The bold lines in the timeline refer to the moments of assessment.

The paper written after the conclusion of each teaching period, is the longest paper of the three. This paper carries the greatest weight towards the final grade.

Upon completion of the first four blocks students will write their thesis using the knowledge and skills they gained and/or improved during the programme. The Examination Committee must deem either the master thesis or one of the papers publishable

Diploma and degree

This programme leads to the following degree: Joint Master of Laws (LL.M) in North Sea Energy Law

The diploma is issued when you have obtained a passing grade for each of the four teaching blocks and on the master thesis.
